Charity
The Staines 10K was originally created to not only have a fast flat competitive course but also provide much needed cash to local deserving causes. Since 2011 the event has raised over £80,000 for local charities.
Due to the generosity of our sponsors whose contributions almost cover the events overheads, the majority of the entry fees goes directly to the local charities. The small Staines 10K Committee and the team of marshals, are all volunteers.
Other donations are received from runners paying a little extra via the entry form, and from the pre and post race massage.
Dont forget that you can arrange to raise your own sponsorship through a website such as 'JustGiving'.
The money raised from the 2023 event has been distributed as follows:
Manor Mead School - £5000 www.manor-mead.surrey.sch.uk/
NSSADP (North Surrey Sports Association for Disabled People) - £3000
Surplus to Supper - £2000 www.surplustosupper.org/
Tea Boat Project - £500 www.facebook.com/p/The-Tea-Boat-Project-100064834355741/
THANK YOU!!
Tracey Penman, Head teacher, and two pupils of Manor Mead school, Shepperton, gratefully receive a cheque from two Staines 10K committee members. The money will be put towards a major IT upgrade and staff 'wish list' items can now be purchased. (Sept 2023)
