Charity
The Staines 10K was originally created to not only have a fast flat competitive course but also provide much needed cash to local deserving causes. Since 2011 the event has raised over £80,000 for local charities.
Due to the generosity of our sponsors whose contributions almost cover the events overheads, the majority of the entry fees goes directly to the local charities. The small Staines 10K Committee and the team of marshals, are all volunteers.
Other donations are received from runners paying a little extra via the entry form, and from the pre and post race massage.
Dont forget that you can arrange to raise your own sponsorship through a website such as 'JustGiving'.
The money raised from the 2024 event has been distributed as follows:
Manor Mead School - £4000 www.manor-mead.surrey.sch.uk/

THANK YOU!!
Tracey Penman, Head teacher, and the pupils of Manor Mead school, Shepperton, gratefully receive a cheque from two Staines 10K committee members. The presentation was made immediately after the pupils had treated us to a performance of "Manor Mead does Strictly". We witnessed first hand, how hard the staff work to ensure the pupils receive the education they deserve. The donation will be put towards new playground equipment.
John and Kim from the White Lodge Centre, Chertsey receive a donation from this years event. This was preceded by a tour of the extensive facilities. A very happy environment for adults and children to learn and socialise. The funds will be going towards a renovation programme. White Lodge have a 2025 fundraising events calendar. Well worth taking a look at their website if you would like to participate and raise some cash at the same time.
What a marvellous surprise to find £1,000 in Homestart's bank account! .... So thank you and all your committee for choosing us again to benefit from this magnificent gift. Life is always getting harder for some young families, particularly in winter and we will be offering them all the help we can. As well as the regular weekly visit from their friendly volunteer, each of our families will receive a Christmas parcel chosen by someone who knows what they need and would like to make it special. Our staff work hard to support all families on our books. Knowing that we have many friends in the community is very heartening for all of us...
I am writing on behalf of Daybreak Day Respite Care Centre to thank you and all those contributed, for the wonderful donation of £2,000. It is lovely when small charities like ours are supported in local fund raisers and really makes a difference to what we can offer our patients (we call them 'guests'). With Christmas just around the corner, we will be providing a free seasonal lunch to all our guests, volunteers and trustees next week along with some festive entertainment and no doubt Santa will be there a sack full of gifts.
.... I would like to express a huge thank you on behalf of Staines Helping Hands for the incredibly generous donation from the Staines 10k Race Team. We are truly overwhelmed by your kindness.
On behalf of our volunteers and clients, please accept our deepest thanks for your support, we are so grateful......
.....It means so much to us and helps us continue our work within the community.
